I'll try to keep the rules of the competition simple
for now. The rules may be changed later when we know how
popular the site will be.
A link to download a newly created savefile will be posted
to this site. I will notify people when this file is available
and the competition starts. The players have 2 weeks to play.
The winning criteria may vary from competition to competition,
but will always be shown on the download page for the savefile.
To log your score just mail your savefile (not the character dump)
back to me at
aholmes@blueyonder.co.uk.
I actively encourage the posting the savefiles even if they
are obviously not winners as it may encourage less experience
players (or players with less time) to compete against each
other.
You may mail savefiles of dead characters as well as live
ones. I can extract information from dead (and quitted)
savefiles, provided no new game is started on a savefile.
If you die you may start again as many times as
you want using the original savefile, but savefile scumming,
debug mode etc are considered cheating. The player may change
any user interface options to suit their style of play.
The savefile may be any variant. If using a variant not used
before, please give me some notice. The variants used so far
are:
ZAngband (2.7.1, 2.7.2, 2.7.3)
Angband 2.9.3
EyAngband 0.5.2
NPPAngband-0.2.0
UnAngband 0.5.4b
OAngband 0.6.0
When playing any variant where quests can be bypassed, if you bypass a quest
you must go back and complete the quest before submitting the entry, otherwise you
depth will be taken as the depth of the quest before the first uncompleted quest.
Let's keep this competition clean and friendly and have
fun.
